One of the perks for working for a school district that my children attend is getting some of the days off that they have off. Spring Break is one of those. Last year the boys were with their dad for spring break. I painted and redecorated my half bath, master bedroom and master bath last year on this week off. I have the boys this year but that doesn’t mean that I can’t still get some things done around the house.
I knew I was going to need some fuel to get this old body going. Especially since I had it in my head all last week that I was doing absolutely nothing over spring break. I just recently received my order of Coffee Over Cardio so I brewed up some Messy Bun – Cinnamon bun flavored coffee. It has a warm cinnamon taste with a dash of hazelnut to give it that cinnamon bun you oh so devilishly desire! It tasted amazing and definitely gave me that kick to knock out my to-do list. You can check out the other amazing flavors or order the Messy Bun and use my discount code on your purchase at https://coffeeovercardio.com/discount/10BrandiB. I had the Saturdaze Chocolate Donut flavored k-cup at work on Friday and it was also great. They both taste so great that it has you wanting more coffee.
So fueled up and ready, Saturday I was able to replace the upstairs thermostat, which was broken, with the downstairs thermostat. I installed a new digital thermostat downstairs that had been sitting in my study for like a year. I purchase some new, in box, chairs off of Facebook for $80 so I picked those up and there was some assembly required. Put them together and totally love them!
As you can see in the above photo, my shed has some door issues. When we moved into this house it only had one door hanging. That one has since fallen off as well. My dad, the amazing man that he is, made me some doors to put on the shed. He even included the hardware and latch. They have been sitting in my garage for months. So we decided it was time to put those doors on. I hated going out there because the wasps loved that shed with no doors. It is still a janky old shed but now it has some beautifully made doors keeping it secure. (Don’t worry, repairing and painting that shed is also on the very long list of things I need to do.)
We also gave the yard the first mow of 2021 with hopes that it will be more grass than weeds this year.
Sunday came in quick and I could not lose my momentum. I woke early and had a couple cups of my Messy Bun Coffee Over Cardio. Mmmmmmm so good! Amazon delivered early and on a Sunday. (Thank you Amazon!) I hung two exterior solar lights, one on the shed and one on the dark side of the house. I also hung a battery operated motion light inside the shed as there is no electricity out there. I had ordered some patio furniture off of a website called UntilGone.com. I randomly found this website and I LOVE it! I got this furniture for $189 with free shipping. I have been searching for a set like this for years. I am cheap….er…..I mean thrifty and poor so I don’t like to spend a lot of money on things. I have searched Walmart, Big Lots, Target, everywhere for a set like this that would not break the bank. When I saw this for $189 with free shipping, I jumped as quick as I could.
It came just like that, in a box so heavy that I had to drag it in the door and then out to the back patio. Thank you FedEx for delivery and I am sure you are cursing my name. After much persuading, I was able to get my Bigs (that is what I call my older sons who are 17 and 15) to help me put the furniture together. There was some trial and error but we were able to finally get each piece put together. The Littles (that is what I call my younger sons who are 9 and 6) and I had planned to attend a Gypsy Holistic Fair on Sunday but it was an hour away and kids were being kids and I did not want to drive an hour there and an hour back and have them be bored after 30 minutes. My youngest son was on a mission for a crystal. So I Googled around and found Embodii Crystals, a shop close to where we live. It is a beautiful shop with amazing staff. Then we stopped at Home Depot for some plants to beautify the backyard. I let the Littles pick the plants. This was a fun experience. I am a control freak. They did really well. We counted the empty planters around the backyard before leaving so we made sure to get enough plants to fill them. We had a silly, fun time picking plants and looking at every plant there. We got home and I got to work while they jumped on the trampoline. We really love the outdoor space that we have created for our family!
We had an amazing weekend, full of projects. Each person was able to put their touch into completing our family patio space. The solar lights all work, the plants look happy and healthy and we have already enjoyed a night together hanging out on our patio.
We didn’t realize we were making memories, we just knew that we were having fun.
