This past week was an interesting week for sure.
Let me start by saying that in the grand scheme of things, I do absolutely know and am grateful for how blessed I am. Don’t worry, no humans or animals were harmed but I can’t say the same for toilets or tires.
On Monday we noticed that something just wasn’t smelling right. Chris quickly found the culprit to be the toilet in the boys’ bathroom. Of course, when the kids who use that toilet were questioned, neither of them had any idea how that could happen. Buying a used camper, we knew that there would be some repairs to come but at least the boys could have told us that it was broken and that the retched scent of decaying human waste was permeating their bathroom and would eventually take over the entire camper. All that to say, that we had to replace a toilet. The boys have a brand-new porcelain throne for their tiny behinds.
Sticking with the bathroom theme. I did, happily, discover that I could take a shower, in the camper, following Chris and still have enough hot water to shave my legs also! We hadn’t had the experience yet so we were not sure how it would go. Camper showers are small and awkward and not known for letting one person get a hot shower, much less two. And I shaved my legs! The relevance of the leg shaving is about the time it takes, in case you weren’t aware. Leg shaving adds at least 5-10 minutes to the shower time. Even though we are out in the country I have got to have my smooth legs.
Ruby was injured on Thursday. Ruby is my Nissan Pathfinder. Yes, my vehicle has a name and I talk to her. Not like full on conversations or anything. I am not that crazy… yet. I do thank her when we arrive safely from rush hour traffic or when the tank says “E” and we make it to the gas station. We were driving back from lunch in Sulfur Springs, going down a bumpy country road. Ruby alerted us with a “low tire pressure” light on the dashboard. We got back to the property and got out to inspect. You could immediately hear the air whooshing out of the tire. Chris took the tire off. Ruby’s passenger side rear tire had been hit by large piece of shrapnel. Chris immediately performed the tire plug process. Come Friday morning though, the tire was still losing air. Darren filled the tire for me that morning and Ruby and I set off to Rivera’s Tire Shop in Emory. Those guys were fantastic! Got the tire off and patched and back on so quickly. Super great work and a super great team. Ruby is back on the road and no longer limping.
Even though there were some hiccups in the week, I was still able to get more organizing done in the camper and get the wedding invitations in the mail. Here is last week in pictures.
Side note: I got distracted with other projects when I started this post. It totally ran out of momentum. My apologies. I will try harder.
