It is time to take down the trees. This is always a bittersweet day for me. I love the glow of a Christmas tree and all of the decorations. Winter nights are dark longer and cold and those lights just project a warmth that hits my soul. But putting away Christmas always gives you a blank slate to decorate for the new year.
I put up four trees this past Christmas. All four with lights and two with decorations. Three of those trees are outside our camper and bring me so much happiness. The other one was over at the in-law's place. (I put up the Christmas tree because they just moved and had so many other things to worry about.) All of the festive lights have really helped light up the area around our camper. Some of the decorations I got from my parent's house and were the decorations that my dad would put out every year when I was a kid. He was pretty great at decorating their house with lights and light up decorations. Having the decorations around here has made it feel like a piece of him was with me through the holidays.
Side note: We couldn't all be together this Christmas, which was so hard for this momma, but we did do our matching pajama photos!! Thank you to my oldest son and his sweet gal for putting on the pajamas, taking the photo, and sending it to me.
I will miss all of the Christmas lights around here, but I am sure that we can find some all-season lights to illuminate the property. I am also excited for the space that will be available once Christmas is taken back to storage. We have many projects that we are working on around here. That is for another day.
If you are like me, and putting away Christmas today, just know that we are in it together. It's just a little break before you have to bring it all out again.
